Eighteen years of photography with a purpose
Photo Fundación ASISA · Jury masterclass, ASISAFoto 2025
ASISAFoto was born in 2009, when the ASISA Foundation and HLA Hospital Universitario El Ángel decided to bring medicine and photography together. Since 2008 the hospital has used images as a tool for humanisation, replacing the blank walls of corridors and waiting rooms with photographs full of life and colour that accompany patients and their families through difficult times.
That idea grew into an international contest that now attracts thousands of amateur and professional photographers from all over the world every year, with the highest prizes awarded in Spain and recognition from FIAP, CEF and FAF.
Judging open to the public
The jury deliberates in person in the hospital's auditorium in Málaga. Before the judging, it gives a free masterclass open to anyone who wants to learn from leading names in photography.
FIAP exhibition space
The hospital has an exhibition space recognised by FIAP, directed by Dr Manuel Viola Figueras (EFIAP, MCEF/b, MFAF). There, and in touring exhibitions such as those at the Railway Museum in Madrid (2021) and La Coracha in Málaga (2022), the award-winning works keep travelling after each edition.
